Post-Primary Tracking Profile

Track the outcomes of your primary school pupils after they leave your school.

This report tracks the outcomes of your primary school year 6 cohort from Key Stage 2 through to Key Stages 4 and 5.

We use data from the National Pupil Database (NPD) to track your students wherever they go within England. We compare the cohort against national averages as well as other students in the schools the pupils went to. The report provide insights into the relative influence of the primary school on the pupils future outcomes.

Understand the extent to which outcomes were sustained

We have found that the performance of a school at Key Stage 2 does not always equate to the success of those pupils at Key Stage 4 and beyond. From a secondary school perspective, this is a large variation in outcomes between primary feeder schools.

This report enables senior management and governors to understand how your pupils perform once they leave your school. You can focus on specific subjects, demographic groups, specific secondary schools, and each subsequent Key Stage.

Develop policy iniatives based on sound evidence

It provides a sound evidence base to:

  • Identify  problem areas and develop initiatives to improve the quality of teaching further. For example, one school developed a Maths Master course to embed maths teaching as a result of the findings from this report
  • Share best practice with other schools in your area
  • Facilitate discussion on teaching and transition between primary and secondary schools.
Working with Mime has been a total joy. We have worked on a totally new project, and they have been generous and innovative in their approach to exploring the possibilities. The end result has totally surpassed my expectations and is now being used as a major driver for school improvement across a number of schools. Their attention to detail is excellent, but they are also able to keep the ‘big picture’ of what the purpose of the data is and how best to present it in a way that enables and empowers others to actually deeply understand it and, therefore, use it.
